Norway Will Continue To Support Cambodia Through The Mine Action Authority In The Clearance Of Humanitarian Mines In Line With The Royal Government’s Goal Of Demining By 2025

Senior Minister Ly Thuch, First Deputy Chief of the Mine Authority, received Ms. Portia Clare Stratton, Director of the Norwegian People’s Aid-NPA Mine Action Project on September,21st ,2020 in Phnom Penh.

Senior Minister informed Ms. Portia Clare Stratton about the efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia under the leadership of Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen, which set out a clear vision and strategic plan in the eight objectives of national mine action strategic plan 2018-2025 to end the landmine by 2025.

He said that the Royal Government of Cambodia, with the support of friendly countries, donors and partners, including Norway, has achieved many proud achievements in the field of humanitarian demining in Cambodia.

He added that the NPA has been involved in mine action in Cambodia for more than a decade, including demining, national capacity building and training of mine dogs in Cambodia.

For her part, Ms. Portia Stratton highly appreciated the Royal Government of Cambodia for its willing to address the remnants of war for the nation and the people of Cambodia.

She expressed the commitment of the Norwegian Government and her people through the NPA to continue to support the Royal Government of Cambodia through the Mine Action Authority in the clearance of mines in line with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Mine Action Targets by 2025. By AKP(Mr Pheara)
